Along with K', six new characters and two Kyo Kusanagi clones appear as Edit Mode characters. This means players can choose their favorite from a whopping total of 32 characters!

Espagnol Tras la dura pelea de 1997 contra Orochi, Iori y Kyo yacían inconscientes en el suelo, al límite de sus fuerzas. Una figura misteriosa cogió a Kyo, llevándoselo a algún laboratorio subterráneo. Durante semanas, Kyo tuvo que aguantar una serie de experimentos para extraerle el ADN. Afortunadamente aprovechando un descuido, logró huir.
King tuvo que rehacer su equipo, ya que Mai pudo entrar en el Fatal Fury Team, y Yuri pelearía con Ryo, asociándose con Kasumi Todoh y Li Xiangfei. Aparte de la unión de Benimaru con Shingo, también aparecen en el mismo equipo K' y Máxima, dos luchadores hasta el momento desconocidos. Y si por si esto fuera poco, aparecen dos luchadores más... ¡Idénticos a Kyo! Eso significaba que el experimento había dado resultado y que habían logrado clonar a Kyo.
