Allemand Alice: Madness Returns setzt die düstere Geschichte rund elf Jahre nach den Ereignissen des ersten Abenteuers fort. Nach ihrer Entlassung aus dem Rutledge-Asyl lebt Alice in einem Londoner Waisenhaus und kämpft weiterhin mit den traumatischen Erinnerungen an den Tod ihrer Eltern. In therapeutischer Behandlung bei Dr. Angus Bumby versucht sie, ihre innere Zerrissenheit zu bewältigen. Eine Begegnung auf der Straße löst jedoch erneut verstörende Visionen aus und zieht sie zurück ins Wunderland. Dort erfährt sie von der fortschreitenden Zerstörung dieser einst vertrauten Welt. In mehreren Kapiteln versucht Alice, die Ursachen des Verfalls aufzudecken und das Wunderland zu retten, während das Spiel immer wieder zwischen Realität und Fantasie wechselt und beide Ebenen thematisch miteinander verknüpft.

Anglais Alice: Madness Returns continues the dark tale roughly eleven years after the events of the first game. Following her release from Rutledge Asylum, Alice lives in a London orphanage and still struggles with the trauma of her parents' death. Under the care of Dr. Angus Bumby, she attempts to confront her psychological scars. A chance encounter triggers violent visions and pulls her back into Wonderland, now twisted and decaying. Across several chapters, Alice seeks to uncover the cause of its corruption and save it, as the story shifts between her real life and the surreal world, linking both realms thematically.
