Allemand In dem einst friedlichen Land Mistral hält sich die Legende von einem tapferen Ritter namens Drak, der einen bösen Gott namens Deoric unter den sechs Kontinenten des Landes versiegelt hat. Frieden hält jedoch nie an. Das Garuda-Imperium ist in die Länder von Mistral eingedrungen, und die sechs Dunklen Generäle, angeführt von Sornbul, haben die Kontinente erobert. Anglais In the land of Mistral, the Garuda Empire and its six Dark Generals plan to resurrect the evil god Deoric. Duran, descendant of the knight Drak who once sealed Deoric away, sets out to stop them using Drak's mystical armors. Players can tackle the six continents in any order, each guarded by a Dark General and filled with demons. Before each stage, one of four elemental armors can be chosen, each with unique attacks that can be powered up with jewels. Crystals dropped by enemies can be spent between levels on health, bombs, and continues. After clearing all six continents, the final battle against Sornbul awaits.

Français Lords of Thunder sur Mega CD est un shoot'em up. Le joueur incarne le dernier des chevaliers Drak, un guerrier volant aux grands pouvoirs qui doit traverser six continents pour éradiquer la menace de l'empire Garuda. Pour faciliter sa quête, le héros dispose de différents bonus (boucliers, bombes et armes) en amont de chaque niveau. L'acquisition se fait en magasin avec les gemmes gagnés en tuant les ennemis du niveau précédent.
