Allemand Bei der Cotton-Serie handelt es sich um eine Reihe von Shoot 'em up-Videospielen, die von Success entwickelt wurden und seit langem sowohl in Spielhallen als auch auf Videospielkonsolen für zu Hause veröffentlicht werden. Mit dem Debüt der Serie im Jahr 1991 haben die Cotton-Spiele dazu beigetragen, den visuellen Stil von Shoot 'Em Ups zu etablieren, der auch als Cute 'Em Up bezeichnet wird. Anstelle von Kriegsschiffen und Schlachtfeldern, wie sie für die meisten Shoot 'Em Ups typisch sind, übernehmen die Spieler in den Cotton-Spielen die Kontrolle über eine Hexe, die auf einem Besen reitet, und müssen sich durch magische, verwunschene Königreiche kämpfen. Cotton-Spiele sind auf einer Vielzahl von Konsolen erschienen, darunter der NEC PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16, dem Super Nintendo, dem Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, dem Sega Saturn, der PlayStation, dem Neo Geo Pocket Color und dem Dreamcast. Anglais The Cotton series is a line of shoot 'em up video game software developed by Success with a long history of releases both in arcades and on home video game consoles. With the series debuting in 1991, the Cotton games have helped to establish the visual style of shoot 'em ups sometimes called cute 'em up. Instead of warships and battle fields typical of most shoot 'em ups, Cotton games put players in control of a witch riding on a broom and tasks them with fighting through magical haunted kingdoms. Cotton games have appeared on a variety of consoles including the NEC PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16, the Super Nintendo, the Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, the Sega Saturn, the PlayStation, the Neo Geo Pocket Color, and the Dreamcast. There is also a pachinko game featuring Cotton available for the PlayStation 2. Most recently, Cotton appears as a hidden character in the Nintendo DS game Rondo of Swords.

Espagnol Cotton Original: Fantastic Night Dreams es un shooter de desplazamiento tipo «cute 'em up» y se desarrolla en un mundo de ensueño de fantasía donde se controla a Cotton, una joven bruja volando en una escoba. El jugador debe destruir varios monstruos y evitar ser destruido en su misión.
El juego ha sido comparado con Magical Chase, ya que ambos presentan personajes de brujas jóvenes que montan escobas, son del mismo género de juegos de disparos, y fueron lanzados para PC-Engine en un marco de tiempo similar.
Este juego incorpora algunos elementos del juego de rol, como ser capaz de subir de nivel el ataque hasta 13 niveles. Además, durante el juego tienes la posibilidad de recoger power-ups para mejorar tu armamento y desatar un ataque más poderoso contra el enemigo. Las vidas de Cotton son representadas por una flecha y se dispone de tres vidas, pero solo se le permite un golpe por vida.

Français On connait surtout Cotton pour ses épisodes mémorables sur Saturn. Mais le premier opus, Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton, est sorti en 1989 en arcade, pour être adapté sur PC Engine CD en 1993.

Forcément, cette version PC Engine était plus limitée que la version d'arcade, mais se défendait toutefois très bien. Avec cette adaptation sur Playstation, c'est un arcade perfect que nous avons entre les mains, d'où son surnom de "Cotton Original".

L'histoire est toujours la même... et toujours en Japonais uniquement. Du coup, on sait que la petite sorcière nommée Cotton n'est attirée que par les "Willows", des bonbons visiblement. C'est avec cet appât qu'une petite fée aux proportions généreuses entraînera notre espiègle petite fille dans une aventure mouvementée, juchée sur son balais.
